The Interview That Never Was
It was an early start the morning I went to Vancouver. I had arranged to speak with a journalist from STV, interested in doing a piece about my journey. I knew my train would have no WIFI, and with the time difference, by the time I got back, it would be too late in Scotland.
However, I ran into technical issues. I had to use my phone, as I couldn’t charge my laptop due to having lost my international power adaptor. The phone was shaking, the sound quality was poor, and even when I plugged in an external mic the sound was cutting in and out. Hardly ideal for broadcast on TV. So the journalist suggested I record video clip answers to some questions on my phone and send them over to her.
After returning from Canada, and checking into my hotel, I spent most of the night trying to record something suitable, with my very limited equipment. The clips it seems weren’t suitable for TV, but I’ve edited them into an interview for posterity (below).
